Hi,
I'am new to coova and this is my first attempt of setting up an hotspot. I'am getting a bit confused with the multiple different areas for IP configuration. I tried different conifgurations but didn't get where I wanted. Which configuration (IP Adresses) should I use:
1. Network-->Lan Configuration
1.1 IP and Netmask = ???
1.2 Default Gatway = ???
1.3 DNS = ???
2. Network-->DHCP Disable or enabled starting adress?
3. Network--> WAN (Static IP)
IP = 192.168.2.2
Gateway & DNS =192.168.2.1 (IP of my DSL Modem)
4. Network --> Wireless
MODE= Access Point no Encryption
5. Hotspot-->Configuration = Internal,Wirless/Lan, HotSpot Lan Access,allow)
6. Hotspot-->DHCP
Internal IP Adress = ???
DHCP Nework = ???
DHCP Netmask = ???
USE OPTIONAL SETTINGS?? (what to set??)
THIS IS MY HARDWARE SETUP:
DSLMODEM (IP 192.168.2.1)-->COOVA-->WLAN/LAN
Thanks for your help
P.S: Iam using the latest Coova on an Asus WL500gp

Re: Network configuration
mdt -r write .....
with a reboot or a reset you can solve a lot of problems..
have you tried to reset it ?
Yes, I tried. I changed my strategie and installed the coova-chilli mipsl on the latest x-wrt snapshot where my network works as supposed. Lets see if i can get it congigured.

Re: Network configuration
I did some more testing.
I installed X-WRT (latest nightly) and reseted nvram.
Everything worked out of the box. WAN was on DHCP and when after I turned WLAN on I could acess the Internet with my WLAN client who got the IP 192.168.1.169 (as XWRT LAN is on 192.168.1.1 by default)
Then I flashed with coovaAP again. Using
mtd write openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx linuxWhen I connect by WLAN now, my Client gets an IP like 192.168.2.22. I have no Internet acess and can't connect to WEBIF using Wlan.
Somehow the LAN IP was set to 192.168.2.1. I could enter WEBIF on that IP. I changed to 192.168.1.1 for testing purpose. After that again a ping to 192.168.2.1 did not work
Any Ideas??
Greetings Seballa
Re: Network configuration
Yes and Yes. (As far as I know is 192.168.2.1 the only IP of my DSL Modem)
I have one other PC connected directly by LAN with the modem. This machine workes perfectly with IP 192.168.2.99 and Gateway 192.168.2.1

Re: Network configuration
What did you set as WAN gateway? 192.168.2.1 ?
Is 192.168.2.1 the management ip on your dsl modem?
Re: Network configuration
Hi,
I tried a lot and can't get it going. I realized, that my WAN connection is not working, at all.
I did
to reset all the settings. Now hotspot is disabled
LAN is 10.0.0.1/255.0.0.0
WAN is 192.168.2.15/255.255.255.0 (I also tried DHCP mode)
I can connect to Wlan and get an IP like 10.0.0.161. I did not change other settings.
I can't even Ping my DSLRouter on 192.168.2.1 what can I try to do??
(If I put my LAN on 192.168.2.15 and use a LAN port instead of the wan Port it works but then the whole point of seperating the network of my DSLRouter and the hotspot is gone.)
Thanks for any help

1. Network-->Lan Configuration
1.1 IP and Netmask = 10.0.0.1 / 255.0.0.0
1.2 Default Gatway = don't change
1.3 DNS = don't change or add yr dns server(s)
2. Network-->
DHCP Enable
starting address 10.0.0.100
nr of addresses 150
6. Hotspot-->DHCP
Internal IP Adress = don't touch
DHCP Nework = don't touch
DHCP Netmask = don't touch
Optional Advanced Settings
Dynamic IP Pool Network 10.0.1.0
Dynamic IP Pool Netmask 255.255.255.0
Allow anyip disabled
This should do it.
The rest of your settings are ok.
Kind regards
