Using CoovaAAA with AirPort Extreme Base Station

Yes, you can use CoovaAAA with your Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station. We give some simple instructions here. This example uses the newest firmware for the base station, currently version 7.1, and the AirPort Utility application version 5.1. If you are using Mac, Check for Software Updates and install the AirPort Base Station Update 2007-001 update.

Start the AirPort Utility application found in the Applications / Utilities folder. From there you should see your base station listed on the left. If not, then consult your manual and ensure you are connected to the base station. When upgrading your firmware or settings, you might consider connecting with an Ethernet cable instead of wirelessly. Select your base station and click Continue.

In the Summary section you'll find your base station configuration and status. If there is a newer firmware available, the utility program will prompt you to install it. Click on the Wireless tab to continue setting up your network.

In the Wireless section, set your Network Name (e.g. Extreme) to your liking and proceed to configure Wireless Security to WPA/WPA2 Enterprise. When set, you will see the Configure RADIUS button. Click on this button to continue.

In the Access Control section, configure the RADIUS Server IP address and Shared Secret (typed twice) provided to you when you signed up (and found in the portal). Leave the port on the default 1812. When done, click on the Update button (bottom right) to save the settings to your base station.

Once your base station restarts, select the WiFi network you just created. Mac OS X will automatically detect the wireless security mode and prompt you to authenticate. Enter your Coova username and password you created when you signed up.
