CoovaAAA Using Colubris
Colubris Networks sells some very nice access points and access controllers. They are particularly good at providing multiple networks using a variety of authentication and security schemes. With the same RADIUS profile, it is easy, for example, to setup a WPA Enterprise/802.1X network and also an unencrypted captive portal network for guests. There is additionally the option to setup a MAC address authenticated network for devices without WPA or a web browser. You can use all these options with CoovaAAA.
Configuring Colubris for CoovaAAA
It takes just a few minutes to configure a Colubris for either captive portal, WPA/802.1x, MAC authentication, or any combination of the three in the form of virtual service communities (individual networks with different SSIDs) - all with the same RADIUS profile configured with the Coova RADIUS server and your personal RADIUS shared secret.
RADIUS Profile
Under the Security tab, create a new RADIUS profile for Coova. Enter Coova's RADIUS server information plus your account's assigned shared secret.
Virtual Service Communities
Under the VSC tab, you configure your wireless networks. The Colubris allows for multiple network on the same access point, each with different configurations.
For each virtual service community, configure the desired authentication method - either HTML, WPA, or MAC authentication.
Logging In
Once your colubris is setup with your CoovaAAA shared secret, login using either the captive portal or WPA network and your CoovaAAA account username and password! You must do this to associate the access point with your account. When you do this, you will see the colubris listed in the Devices / Access points section of the management application. Edit the access point to give it a name - also notice that the Controller Type is likely already known to be Colubris. If not, then set the controller type to Colubris to take advantage of data limitations.
