Using CoovaAP with CoovaAAA
There are a number of ways to use CoovaAAA with the CoovaAP firmware. It can be used with or without wireless security (WPA or WPA2 Enterprise) or with the internal or an external captive portal. It can be used with CoovaAP's confgured users, self-register, or even ToS registration modes. You can even use CoovaAAA for captive portal and WPA Enterprise whereby guests (unknown WPA users) are given the captive portal.
Standard WPA Enterprise Authentication Only
To use standard WPA/WPA2 Enterprise, then the CoovaAP is configured similarly to other WPA routers. Configure the RADIUS Server IP Address and Shared Secret assigned to you in the Network / Wireless section of the CoovaAP configuration.
When you log in for the first time with your Coova.org account, you will be associated with the access point as the owner.
WPA Enterrpise With Session Accounting
The standard WPA, however, does not give you any RADIUS accounting. Meaning, you do not know how long sessions last or how much bandwidth was consumed. When you have CoovaAP configured for either Internal Hotspot or ChilliSpot UAM, Coova-Chilli will provide this functionality when you have your wireless setting configured for WPA RADIUS (shown above).
Above is the Internal Hotspot being activated. You must also set the HotSpot / RADIUS settings as shown below, in the next section.
Captive Portal HotSpot
Using CoovaAP for Captive Portal or WPA Enterprise (with accounting, as above) requires your RADIUS Server IP Address and Shared Secret configured in the HotSpot / RADIUS section, as shown below. To use the internal captive portal, simply configure your wireless settings with Encryption Disabled.
If you are using WPA Enterprise and want to have a captive portal for "unknown" users, enable the Allow WPA Guests option. See CoovaAP for more about the firmware and the embedded captive portal.
