CoovaAAA and Open-Mesh.com Routers

You are now able to use your Open-mesh.com routers with CoovaAAA, offering you an easy and free alternative to managing your WiFi access.

Instructions

To begin, you must already have a CoovaAAA account. If not, sign-up now. You should also already have some open-mesh.com routers. When you first boot up your routers, you are told to do with a wired connection to the Internet. This will give the router a change to update itself.

Test Firmware

To use CoovaAAA, you must be using the Test Firmware from open-mesh.com. To configure this, go into the open-mesh portal and make the selection under Advanced Settings.

Enable CoovaAAA

Also in the open-mesh portal, give your Access Point #1 a Network Name and select to use the CoovaAAA services.

More options will be made available here by Open-mesh.com once the firmware is out of Test status. This will allow you to configure more generalized settings for captive portal and RADIUS. But, for now, you can only select among the service providers listed. For CoovaAAA use, enter you CoovaAAA Shared Secret in the Your ID field as shown below. You can also set any walled garden domains here.

Be sure to give the routers plenty of time to update and upgrade.

Associate with CoovaAAA Account

The first time you use any router, access the CoovaAAA hotspot and login to get access using your CoovaAAA account. The very same account associated with the shared secret used above. Once you have logged in, you will see the access point listed in CoovaAAA.
