Upgrading CoovaAP Firmware

This software is provided at your own risk! You should know your router! And consult the OpenWrt README and supported hardware pages.

Backup Your Configuration!

On the System / Config Management page of the web admin interface download your current configurations. This will take the nvram settings (which will actually be there after you upgrade) and various files which contain configurations (these are not preserved when you upgrade and delete the existing filesystem).

Important! There is currently a bug, whereby the internal web server will not serve you the generated config.tgz file until it is restarted. The procedure for downloading your configuration is as follows:

Install Firmware

On the System / Firmware Upgrade page, upload the .trx firmware file you have downloaded. You can optionally select Erase JFFS2 partition and it is recommended. Click on Upgrade and leave your browser and router alone! You will see your router reboot, then it is ok to try to access the web interface.

Restoring Configurations

On the System / Config Management page, you are also able to upload an existing configuration. Do so with your saved configuration from the step above. Note: when you apply this back into your system, it will replace the software repository URLs from before. If you install extra software, you will have to be sure to go into System / Installed Software and remove any coova.org repository of the wrong version. Then add back in the correct repository location.
